ABSTRACT CYTOKININS1 have received considerable attention from plant biologists because they play key parts in systems that regulate growth2–4. These compounds influence physiological
processes such as the induction of cell division, retardation of senescence, promotion of seed germination and promotion of bud developments5,6. We have already observed that cytokinins
initiate another physiological process—transpiration. This observation is similar but not identical to a report7 concerning the stimulation of transpiration of primary barley leaves. Access
