ABSTRACT THE capacity of œstrogen to induce tumours of the pituitary gland in the intact rat is well known, although the mechanism whereby these tumours are consistently produced remains


unsolved. In the present investigation, it is shown that the thyroid gland, at least, plays an important part in modifying the incidence of hyperplasia and tumour formation of the pituitary
