FORMER X FACTOR STAR ALEXANDRA BURKE HAS REVEALED SHE SET STRICT RULES SURROUNDING A PARTICULAR SCENE IN GRITTY NEW DRAMA CURFEW AS SHE COULD ACT THAT SCENE 'WITH MORALS' AND

SHOULDN'T BE ON TV 20:32, 12 Oct 2024Updated 16:21, 13 Oct 2024 As a newcomer into the telly acting industry, Alexandra Burke could be forgiven for just going with the flow to keep

bosses happy. But it seems the former X Factor star, 36, who is starring in the gritty drama Curfew alongside Sarah Parish, put her foot down when it came to a particular scene. Alexandra

plays the role of Helen who is a school teacher in a world that is governed by a new Women's Safety Act. The new law requires men to wear tags and remain at home between the hours of

7pm to 7am everyday. Sarah, however, plays a policewoman who is investigating the murder of a woman that occurred between the curfew hours. Speaking about her role in the gripping drama with

Radio Times, Alexandra said she signed the contract without realising the darkness of some of the scenes. And this was why she made the brave decision to ask for a scene to be removed. She

told the publication: "I remember reading [the script] and then finding out, like, a certain thing about Helen, which I don’t want to say, but you find out that certain thing about her

and I remember thinking to myself, ‘God, this is going to be the most challenging role I’ve ever done." READ MORE: I wore a slimming jumpsuit with a funky cowgirl pattern and got so

"with morals, and I don't think that's something that should be on TV." The producer agreed to cut the scene and praised the writer Joasia Goldyn for her "openness

to collaboration." This is not the first acting project for the star as she has also appeared in the film Pretty Red Dress, last year and a string of musicals. In 2013, the singer quit

her record label to focus on her West End career as she took on the lead in The Bodyguard, replacing Beverley Knight. She then starred in Sister Act The Musical in 2016 and then in 2017, she

appeared in Strictly Come Dancing an made it to the final. In 2021, Alexandra joined the celebrity line-up of SAS Who Dares Wins but said she struggled to readjust to life after the show.

attack. That side of it was really awful. I did get therapy. I wasn't sleeping well at all. I always thought there was somebody outside waiting to attack me. So I got a bit
