Fox News) A hero marine took down a man who was about to kill everyone on board during a flight from Japan to Houston.

Jody Armentrout started to notice a man acting strangely on Saturday while sitting in the emergency exit row. Armetrout, a sergeant major who has served in the Marines for more than 20

years, watched on with concern as the man took his backpack to one of the bathrooms before going into a second bathroom... then a third. Suddenly he saw the man eyeing up the emergency door

next to him, ringing alarm bells for the experienced leader trained to watch out for danger.

grabbed the strap on the door, leaving Armentrout with just seconds to react.

Armentrout, 50, told NBC News: "About that time is when I slammed him, put him on the ground. And then there was an older gentleman sitting on that side that woke up and he got up and kind

of helped me."

The duo managed to keep the man to the ground despite his efforts to wrestle free. Flight attendants also pitched in to help as Armentrout gave them zipties to place around the man's wrists

to tie him to a seat.

Armentrout stared into his eyes and knew something "was going on".

He added: "You could definitely tell there was something going on." Airport officials said he suffered from a "medical episode" and was taken to a hospital.

‌ Armentrout said: "I just knew he was up to something crazy and at the end of the day, I was willing to take the risk of him saying 'I'm not doing anything', and then just them making him

go sit back down, than me allowing him to do anything that's going to put anybody at risk.

saw a passenger allegedly "grabbing the emergency exit".

Reports suggest the woman was "wrestled away" from the emergency door before the flight was diverted and landed in Frankfurt, Germany. "Once the plane had took off, she began to run up and

down the plane screaming about how it was going down and there was a bomb," a passenger who said they were close to the emergency exits told the Manchester Evening News. "She also tried to

get life jackets and oxygen masks out."
