CAR TAX COSTS ARE SET TO RISE IN APRIL FOR A SELECT NUMBER OF VEHICLES WITH THE MOST POLLUTING MODELS FACING A HIKE OF UP TO £2,745 FROM APRIL 1, 2025 09:13, 26 Feb 2025Updated 09:22, 26 Feb
2025 Motorists are being warned that car tax is set to double for certain vehicles from April 2025. The imminent changes to car tax will see Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates double for
high-emission models, potentially increasing by up to £2,745. Cars emitting over 255g/km of CO2 will be hit with an additional £2,745 charge to use the road from April 1, 2025. This could
push first-year VED costs up to a whopping £5,490 annually for some, marking a significant blow for drivers nationwide. The costly car supplement is also due to rise to £425 per year, up
from £410. This fee applies from the second to the sixth year your car is on the road if it cost more than £40,000 when new. READ MORE: Martin Lewis saves fan £454 with 5-minute 'super
