Xavi simons drops transfer hint amid man utd links with emotional message

attacking midfielder has been linked with a move to the Premier League on numerous occasions in the past following his impressive performances for club and country. Simons, who sees his

contract at the Red Bull Arena expire in June 2027, featured 25 times in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 10 goals and providing seven assists. Despite his best efforts, Leipzig failed to

qualify for the UEFA Champions League next term. It's the first time the German outfit haven't finished inside the top four in six years, and the first time they've missed

out on Europe since their promotion to the top-flight in 2016. After Leipzig lost to Stuttgart on the final day of the season, Marcel Schafer pulled no punches. As quoted by Goal, the

club's sporting director said: "There are no new insights. It was a disappointing season for the players, the team, and the club. We failed to achieve our goals. That's why we

are where we are and won't be playing internationally next year." Then, on Monday, Simons marked the defeat with an emotional post on Instagram, which eclipsed 300,000 likes by

Tuesday. The Netherlands international wrote: "This season has been tough, full of unexpected challenges and setbacks. Article continues below "Life sometimes throws obstacles our

way, but it’s in these moments that we grow the most. Despite the difficulties, this club will be back where it belongs. Thank you, fans, for the incredible support during the season!"

While Leipzig disappointed, Simons managed to attract interest from some top clubs. According to the Daily Mail last month, Manchester United have stayed in contact with the Dutchman, with

the outlet claiming he has been shortlisted as a potential target ahead of the summer transfer window. The report claims Simons has also been followed by Bayern Munich and Manchester City,

while Liverpool are said to be keen too. The Daily Mail added that a move for the maestro would likely hinge on whether United can secure qualification to the Champions League. So, the Reds

must defeat Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League final on Wednesday just to buy a ticket for the raffle. Speaking to Sky Sports in Germany last month, Simons opened up on his future and

his career ambitions. "I’m still a young player, I have many dreams and the club knows that," he told reporters. "But right now, the most important thing for me is to play

well in the upcoming games." Simons, who's valued at €70m (£59m) by Transfermarkt, added: "Then we have the international matches, and after that we’ll sit down and see what

happens." Leipzig signed Simons on a permanent basis from Paris Saint-Germain in January following a successful 18-month loan spell. The Dutchman initially joined the German outfit

during the summer of 2023 and his stay was extended by a further year in August 2024. After formally swapping the Parc des Princes for the Red Bull Arena, Simons told the club website:

"I've always said that I feel extremely at home in Leipzig and that I'm honored by the appreciation shown towards me by the club. "Over the coming weeks and months, I

will be able to freely pursue our joint aims of qualifying for the Champions League for the seventh straight season, and of reaching the DFB-Pokal final in Berlin – those are the only things
