MANCHESTER CITY MANAGER PEP GUARDIOLA GAVE AN UPDATE ON EDERSON AND STEFAN ORTEGA AFTER THE TRANSFER WINDOW OPENED 17:00, 02 Jun 2025 Pep Guardiola does not expect Ederson or Stefan Ortega

to leave Manchester City this summer. Both goalkeepers have been linked with exits and the club have been keeping tabs on replacements, but the manager is looking to welcome them back into

his squad for the Club World Cup and next season. Ederson was seriously tempted by a move to Saudi Arabia last summer and the Brazilian had to be convinced to remain at the Etihad by

Guardiola in face-to-face talks. He was dropped to the bench for a spell this season when Guardiola wanted to try something different with his struggling side and put Ortega in for a number

of high-profile games, such as Liverpool away. City's coach did little to hide the idea that Ederson could leave amid more reports linking him to Saudi Arabia this summer. Ortega,

meanwhile, has been linked with a move back to the Bundesliga after failing to claim the No.1 shirt at City that he was targeting. The club have looked at Porto's Diogo Costa and

Espanyol's Joan Garcia as a result, aware that their two current goalkeepers have contracts that expire in the next 12 months. However, speaking at a press conference in Spain ahead of

a golf tournament, Guardiola gave the impression that both of his stoppers will be staying. "We have spoken about the squad situation and the two goalkeepers that we have will

continue," he said. This ties in with the City manager's belief, spoken after the final game at Fulham, that there will be less change than people are expecting at the Etihad this

summer. Despite the club pursuing at least three new faces in the transfer market to go with the four that joined in January, unless players ask to leave Guardiola is not expecting many

exits. Article continues below "I don't have that feeling. Maybe the club is a little different but I have 24 players and I saw them training the other day and said oh my god how

good they are," he said. "New faces will come, especially in positions where we are weaker, but I don't think a lot. We have a good squad, they have contracts, they want to

stay here and I don't want to have a massive amount of players. "I remember the first season when I arrived and we didn't win one title. There were nine, 10, 11 players out of

contract and we didn't extend except Yaya Toure. "Then you can make changes but today we have 24 players under contract, it's not as simple as that. That's why I

don't have the feeling. "But we will see. The summer is long, World Cup, maybe players realise they are not going to play and want to leave. But it's not my business."
