MANCHESTER UNITED LOST THE EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL AFTER A 1-0 DEFEAT TO TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR AT BILBAO'S SAN MAMES STADIUM 09:09, 22 May 2025 Manchester United's hierarchy have been told

by the club's supporters that they want Ruben Amorim to stay after defeat in the Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur. Spurs won the match thanks to a solitary goal from

Brennan Johnson shortly before half-time. In truth, it was a match of little quality, and while United may feel they had the better of it in the second half, they did not look close to

troubling Tottenham. In his post-match press conference, Amorim addressed his future and insisted that it would be decided by the supporters and the boardroom. "In this moment, I am not

going to be here defending myself, it's not my style," he said. "I cannot do it, is really hard for me. So I have nothing to show to the fans to say I am going to improve

because of this, I had these problems, I will not do nothing. "In this moment, it’s a little bit of faith. So let’s see. "Like I said before, coming here before in the flash, I am

always open. If the board and fans feel that I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day without any conversation about compensation. "But I will not quit again. I am really confident

in my job and, as you can see, I will not change nothing in the way I do things." Thankfully for Amorim, there appears to be no desire for him to lose his job after the result. In a

poll taken by the _Manchester Evening News _before the Europa League final, United fans were asked if Amorim would still be the manager of United this time next year. A total of 5,747

supporters responded to the question and 70 per cent said yes he will. 21 per cent said yes but with the caveat that United would need to have won the Europa League for that to happen. Only

nine per cent thought Amorim would be gone by this time next year regardless of the result in Bilbao. There is little evidence to suggest that the mood surrounding Amorim will have changed

among supporters after the defeat to Spurs. There is an understanding from many supporters that United are currently trying to play a system with players that do not fit it. Amorim will have

his first summer transfer window to try and change that soon but he will have to try and attract players without the lure of the Champions League. Here at The Manchester Evening News, we
