THE MANCHESTER UNITED DEFENDER WAS NOT HAPPY WITH TOTTENHAM CAPTAIN CRISTIAN ROMERO DURING AN INCIDENT IN THE EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL MATTY HEWITT 10:02, 22 May 2025 Manchester United defender

Harry Maguire was less than happy with the actions of Tottenham captain Cristian Romero during the Europa League Final last night. During the first-half, the Argentine defender lay on the

ground after appearing to clash with United's Rasmus Hojlund, covering his face and rolling around in pain, but Maguire was not impressed. "You're the captain, come on!"

the England international appeared to say, who clearly felt Romero was making a meal of the incident, later getting up and continuing to play on. The pair then exchanged verbals in the

second-half, but it was Spurs who were in the driving seat thanks to Brennan Johnson's first-half striker and that would prove the difference at full-time. Things between the two

appeared to flare up again at full-time, with Romero approaching United players to shake their hands or console them after the final whistle. However, Maguire was again involved in an

incident with the World Cup winner. Maguire appeared to ignore Romero before pushing the Spurs' defender and gesturing him back to his half of the pitch as staff intervened between the

two stars. Article continues below Maguire had been hugely critical of United's season in the build-up to the game, saying: "It wouldn't save the season because I think

it's been disappointing. There's been too many games that we've lost, far too inconsistent. It's been a difficult season. "It's been a disappointing season, but

of course football is about memories, it's about creating memories, it's about winning trophies and we have a great opportunity to win a trophy. For our fans, it's what they

deserve, so that's the most important thing." The defeat to Spurs does indeed make United's campaign one of the worst in their history and they won't have the benefit of

Champions League football next seasons to help with their finances. --- _Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United coverage and
