MANCHESTER UNITED WERE BEATEN BY TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR AT THE SAN MAMES STADIUM IN THE EUROPA LEAGUE FINAL MATTY HEWITT 12:45, 22 May 2025 Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou showed his
class towards Manchester United after the Europa League Final with a gesture that may have been missed by the millions watching the game on TV. The Australian head coach was spotted shaking
the hand of every United player after the full-time whistle in a mark of respect, while his players and staff all celebrated with their fans. Like Ruben Amorim, Postecoglou has come under
intense scrutiny following their dismal campaign, but still had time to show his class after the full-time whistle. Spurs ran out 1-0 winners against Amorim's side with Brennan
Johnson's scrappy first-half goal the difference at the San Mames Stadium last night. Defeat for United means there'll be no European football at Old Trafford next season, in a
major blow ahead of an important summer rebuild. It's been a dismal season for Man United on the pitch, who could finish the Premier League campaign just one place above the relegation
zone if they suffer defeat to Aston Villa on the final day of the season and Spurs win against Brighton. The defeat in the Europa League final was bitterly disappointing for United and boss
Amorim even offered to quit the club if the hierarchy want a new manager. Article continues below Speaking in his post-match press conference, Amorim said: ""In this moment, I am
not going to be here defending myself, is not my style. I cannot do it, is really hard for me. So I have nothing to show to the fans to say I am going to improve because of this, I had these
problems, I will not do nothing. "In this moment, it’s a little bit of faith. So let’s see. Like I said before, coming here before in the flash, I am always open. If the board and fans
feel that I’m not the right guy, I will go the next day without any conversation about compensation. "But I will not quit again. I am really confident in my job and, as you can see, I
will not change nothing in the way I do things." Spurs boss Postecoglou said: "It's hard to put into words the emotions. I'm super proud of the players. To quote my
favourite Australian prime minister, Paul Keating, after an unlikely victory he said, 'This is one for the true believers.' and this is certainly one of the true believers.
"That means an unbelievable group of players who never wavered, never lost faith in me and what we were doing. Unbelievable football staff, led by brilliant coaches. People who work at
the club from the board down, Lilywhite House, the training ground. The supporters." _Here at The Manchester Evening News, we are dedicated to bringing you the best Manchester United
