ABIGAIL WRIGHT FROM CREWE WAS JAILED 11:04, 08 Feb 2025 A fraudster who stole hundreds of pounds from a 92-year-old man has been jailed. Abigail Wright pleaded guilty to four counts of fraud
by false representation in an appearance at Crewe Magistrates' Court on February 3. Wright, of Flag Lane in Crewe, was given a sentence of 27 weeks as well as an indefinite restraining
order which bars her from having any contact with the victim or his family. She was also ordered to pay back the £800 she stole. The 37-year-old had just been released from prison having
committed similar offences against the victim. Despite having just been released, she again contacted him, Cheshire Live reports. On November 6, 2024 a neighbour spotted Wright going to the
man's address and called police. PC James Rowley went to the house to carry out a welfare check. PC Rowley advised the victim's son so he could keep an eye on him. The next day the
son found £800 was missing from an account his dad had access to. The son suspected Wright and informed PC Rowley. A debit card was cancelled and transactions examined. Some stuck out as
unusual. PC Rowley visited the victim and found him handing over cash. "While he was doing this willingly, he lacked a full understanding of the situation and felt sorry for her so
would give in to her demands for cash," the officer said. "I found £150 on Wright but she said she'd got it from another friend even though I'd seen the transaction take
place in the alleyway. She had also used his card without his permission to withdraw a significant amount of money on three occasions." The £150 was seized and Wright was arrested. She
contacted the victim just two days later despite her bail conditions specifying she couldn't. She was later found in an Asda store and detained. PC James Rowley said: “The moment she
got out of prison her offending was relentless and the amount she was taking from him was significant - clearly taking advantage of his vulnerability. “I would like to thank the public for
being good neighbours by keeping an eye on their elderly neighbours and reporting their concerns to us. “I’d also like to thank colleagues involved in this case. A lot of time and work went
into obtaining justice for the victim, which demonstrates our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. Article continues below “Congleton Beat Team takes pride
