A COURT HEARD HOW SOME OF THEM MAY BE OUT OF THE COUNTRY 18:00, 21 May 2025 Police have been unable to track down three key witnesses in the Jay Slater case, his inquest has heard. The

19-year-old went missing after attending the NRG music festival in Tenerife last June. He travelled north from Playa de las Americas to an Airbnb in the remote village of Masca, in the Rural

Parc de Teno, in the early hours of June 17. Jay then left the property on foot in an attempt to return to Los Cristianos, where he was staying with his friends. His disappearance sparked a

four-week search - with police and mountain rescue teams looking for the apprentice bricklayer, from Oswaldtwistle, Lancashire. More than £72,000 was also raised on a GoFundMe page to

support Jay's family while the search attracted international headlines. Jay was tragically found dead in the Juan Lopez ravine, north of Masca, on July 15. An inquest into his death

took place at Preston Coroner's Court today (May 21), with the inquest adjourned on Wednesday afternoon and set to resume at a later date. Three key witnesses did not give evidence. The

court heard that police had been unable to track down Lucy Law, Brad Hargreaves and Ayub Qassim. Here are the details on who the three key witnesses are. LUCY LAW Lucy was one of the

friends who attended the NRG festival with Jay in Tenerife last June. She set up the GoFundMe page titled 'Get JAY SLATER home' and was a prominent figure in the media during the

early days of the search for Jay. Lucy gave details of the rave the pair had attended at the Papagayo nightclub on June 16, admitting she left the party before Jay did. She woke up to a

series of messages from her mate. Lucy wrote on the GoFundMe page: "On the last day of the festival, I left alone, earlier than everyone else, because I was tired from the weekend. I

woke up to a phone call off Jay at 8:30am saying 'he was lost in the mountains, he wasn’t aware of his surroundings, he desperately needed a drink & his phone was on 1 per

cent'. "He had met two people on Sunday night and left with them to go to their apartment. Their apartment was miles away from civilisation and in a very secluded location. He left

at 8am, and walked half an hour before frantically ringing me when his phone reached one per cent." Lucy described his disappearance as 'suspicious' at the time. After his

body was recovered, she paid tribute to Jay, saying: "Honestly lost for words. Always the happiest and most smiley person in the room, you was one of a kind Jay and you'll be

missed more than you know. "I'm sure you'll 'have your dancing shoes polished and ready waiting for us all. We all love you buddy. Fly high." The inquest heard that

police believe Lucy is currently in Tenerife. Officers attempted to serve a witness summons on her, but could not find her. BRAD HARGREAVES Brad is the other friend who travelled with Jay

and Lucy to Tenerife for the NRG festival last year. He told This Morning last year that he heard Jay 'slipping on rocks' in his last phone call with his mate. Brad said: “He was

on the phone walking down a road and he’d gone over a little bit - not a big drop - but a tiny little drop and he was going down, and he said ‘I’ll ring ya back, I’ll ring ya back’ because I

think someone else was ringing him. "If he was thinking like me, he would have gone back up and started walking on the path again… He wouldn't have gone all that way down there.”

The inquest heard that at around 7.30am on June 17, Brad had a video call with Jay. Jay told him he had no money for a taxi, and Brad replied: "Just get a taxi here and then jump out

and don't pay for it or we'll pay." The court heard that Brad is believed to be currently on holiday, which he booked last October. Police were unable to find him before

today's hearing. AYUB QASSIM A convicted drug dealer in his 30s, also known as 'Jonny Vegas', Ayub Qassim was one of the two men who invited Jay back to the remote Airbnb in

Masca following the NRG rave. He was previously jailed for nine years in 2015 as the ringleader of a London-based gang dealing heroin and crack cocaine in Cardiff. Ayub claimed to have had

'survivor's guilt' following the discovery of Jay's body. He claimed he offered Jay a lift when the Lancashire lad said he would catch a bus on the morning of June 17,

and felt a 'told you so' moment after the teenager had gone missing. He told The Central Club podcast: "If I would have held him there and said 'no, you're

staying', this would have turned into a different situation." Ayub was interviewed by Spanish police over Jay's disappearance, but he was considered 'irrelevant' to

the case and allowed to return to the UK. Article continues below Jay's inquest heard that the Metropolitan Police had tried to locate Ayub before today's hearing, but officers

were unable to find him.
