CARLA HESELWOOD, 30, WAS HANDED A COMMUNITY ORDER 18:44, 03 Jun 2025 A mum repeatedly reversed into a woman’s car during a ‘stupid and emotionally charged’ episode. Carla Heselwood, 30,
stormed round to her ex-partner’s parents home following issues over a child. On arrival she repeatedly drove into the woman’s car, causing one of the tyres to fall off. She was arrested and
taken to hospital for an assessment on her mental health. While there she tried to escape and attacked a police officer. Heselwood, from Bury, admitted dangerous driving; and assaulting an
emergency worker. She was handed a community order after a judge found she had suffered an ‘acute breakdown’. Nick Roxborough, prosecuting, said the victim and Heselwood were both connected
to the same family. “The defendant has a child with one of the family members, and the victim had a relationship with his brother,” he said. Article continues below The victim had noticed
Heselwood made a series of posts about her on social media, one of those being her address. Manchester’s Minshull Street Crown Court heard that she made allegations which resulted in her
child’s father being arrested. As a result, his parents became concerned for the child, collecting them from Heselwood and taking them to their house. The next day she drove to the
grandparent’s house, and repeatedly reversed into the victim’s car. “Damage was caused to the car including to the back wheel, which was totally detached from the car,” said Mr Roxborough.
“The victim and members of the family came out of the house and an altercation ensued with the police called.” Heselwood was taken to hospital for an assessment of her mental health. Whilst
there she attempted to leave, during which a police officer tried to stop her. She threw a cup of water at them before trying to run away. The officer managed to restrain them, before
Heselwood grabbed at their face and neck causing bruising and grazes, the court heard. Sentencing her, Judge Jenny Lester-Ashworth said the two women had a ‘difficult and emotionally charged
relationship’. “You came across your victim’s vehicle and in an emotionally charged state, made the stupid decision to damage the vehicle by driving repeatedly into it,” she told Heselwood.
“Whilst at hospital you attempted to leave and a female police officer was just doing her job to try and stop you when you took a small cup of water and threw it at her face and attempted
to leave. You then pushed her against the wall and she sustained minor injuries as a result and you were restrained. “This was clearly out of character. You are a woman who prioritises her
family. It is clear you were experiencing some form of acute breakdown at the time.” Defending, Joshua Bowker said the offence was out of character. Heselwood, of Ivy Road, Bury, was handed
an 18 month community order. She must complete 25 rehabilitation activity requirement days and 150 hours unpaid work. Article continues below She was also banned from driving for 12 months.
