TRANS PRIDE MANCHESTER HAS ISSUED A PLEA AS THE ORGANISATION'S SURVIVAL IS AT STAKE 11:27, 22 May 2025Updated 14:10, 22 May 2025 An LGBTQ+ organisation in Manchester has issued a
desperate plea as its very survival is at stake. Trans Pride Manchester runs pride events specifically for the transgender community every year. Thousands are drawn to the parades, as well
as workshops, community events, and vigils. But due to requirements of the organisation, Trans Pride Manchester has been left in a difficult position, and has issued an appeal for someone to
take over a voluntary director. _JOIN THE MANCHESTER EVENING NEWS WHATSAPP GROUP HERE_ If at least two people don't step up by June 21, the organisation warned, then they will be
unable to continue. In a post on Instagram, Trans Pride Manchester wrote: "Right now, Trans Pride Manchester is being held together by a single active director and one silent director
brought in at the last minute to fulfil our legal requirements as a Community Interest Company. "Without at least two new directors stepping up by 21st June, our ability to continue
will end with 2025. There will be no Trans Pride Manchester after that." The organisation explained that they cannot "legally or practically" continue with just one working
director, with that person set to step down after this year. They added: "TPM has always been built with love, by and for our community. If you believe that Manchester deserves a Trans
Pride that centres trans joy, trans futures, and trans leadership, we need you. Now. "We're not giving up. We're handing over - if there's someone to take the
torch." Trans Pride Manchester was founded in 2021 by a group of trans and non binary people, describing itself as "dedicated to supporting, advocating for, and celebrating the
transgender and non-binary community in the Greater Manchester area". The group adds that it views pride as a "protest not a party". Starting in 2023, Trans Pride Manchester
arranged protest marches through Manchester City Centre, with a second march being held in 2024. Lib Dem Councillor Chris Northwood said: "Trans Pride Manchester has been a great day on
the calendar of the region's trans community in recent years, a moment of celebration, joy and protest. "But in recent years, just existing as a trans person takes resilience to
face up against the enormous pressure of transphobia resulting in rolling back hard won rights. "For activists like the current team at Trans Pride Manchester, this toll from the
pressure to resist transphobia and organise such an event is even greater, and something that can only be done as a group of people working together. "I hope the Trans Pride Manchester
directors can find new people to come forward so this important day in the calendar can continue" Article continues below The _Manchester Evening News _has contacted Trans Pride
