A spellbinding showcase recreating the Northern Lights lit up the Royal Albert Dock this evening. Hundreds of people gathered on the waterfront to witness the art installation, Borealis,
come to life on Thursday, March 20. Borealis is the brainchild of artist Dan Ache, who has toured the display around the world. Borealis utilises technology and natural elements, with beams
of light passing through cloud particles to mimic the mesmerising Northern Lights. The display's appearance will fluctuate based on weather conditions such as wind, humidity and
temperature, much like the actual Northern Lights phenomenon. Today was the first day of Borealis's 10 day showcase in the city. Accompanied by a captivating soundtrack from French
composer Guillaume Desbois, Borealis can be viewed from the Royal Albert Dock and its surrounding restaurants. Borealis decorated the docks in a beautiful curtain of light as visitors
gathered along the waterfront to watch the display. The display will run every night from 7-10pm until Sunday, March 30. Everything you need to know about Borealis can be read here. You can
take a look at the dazzling display in our photos below.
