WINE DOESN’T HAVE TO COST A FORTUNE AND ALDI HAS SOME AWARD-WINNING VALUE OPTIONS 14:13, 20 May 2025 There's good news this week for wine lovers as it has once again been confirmed that
you don’t need to break the bank to get a great bottle of wine. The catch, however, is that not all cheap wines are made equal and you do need to know your stuff. Aldi has long been
celebrated for its value wines, but it can still be tricky to know which to choose. A £6 bottle could be just what you are looking for and the £6.50 one next to it might leave you
disappointed. Experts recommend that the look of a label means very little when it comes to the quality of the wine and even suggest overlooking the design altogether. So with no ‘try before
you buy’ option, how are you meant to know what to look for? Thankfully wine experts exist and they are willing to share their knowledge. The recent International Wine & Spirit
Competition (IWSC) saw Aldi win numerous awards for its wine selection including one bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for under £5. Top value IWSC award winning wines included the Estevez Sauvignon
Blanc, which is available at Aldi for £4.79. The wine is currently showcased on Aldi’s website though stocks in store may vary. The IWSC said the wine “opens with vibrant undertones of
green pea shoot and kiwi fruit". They continued: “The palate reveals a delightful tension between ripeness and acidity, showcasing distinctive herbal flavours with a crisp, zesty
finish." The wine won a ‘silver’ award. Another award-winning Aldi wine is the Freeman’s Bay 2024 rose. The New Zealand origin wine was described a having “Aromas of ripe raspberry and
orange peel intertwine with a hint of minerality.” The IWSC said that “the palate showcases cranberry and herbaceous notes, leading to a bright, slightly bitter finish” Article continues
