THE HOST SAID: "I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO SAY" 16:44, 27 May 2025 A buyer was taken aback after she found her dream home on Escape to the Country. Nikki Chapman was helping Natalie

find her first home in the rural area of Shropshire, located in the West Midlands. The 30-year-old works in insurance, and was lucky enough to be able to work from wherever she chooses.

Natalie brought her mum, Ruth, along on the property hunt as she hoped to find her dream home. With her budget of £520,000 she was looking for a characterful house in a rural location with

views of the countryside. She requested a minimum of two bedrooms, an office for her to work from home and a dog-friendly garden. BBC presenter Nikki Chapman took Natalie and her mum to four

different options in the surrounding area. The first option was a 19th century cottage in the historic village of Ironbridge. Natalie was blown away by the breathtaking views and she

thought the location was ideal. The characterful house offered three bedrooms and a spacious living room, but both Natalie and Ruth thought the kitchen was "too small." She was

also disappointed with the size of the bedrooms, due to the traditional cottage-feel. However, they were surprised to hear it was actually priced largely under her budget. Nikki said:

"Are you ready for this?" as she announced Natalie could secure the property for £345,000, which was over £100,000 cheaper than what she estimated. Article continues below Natalie

hoped to impress with her second option. Upon first seeing the house, Natalie noticed it was "very, very different". Built just three years ago, the buyer fell in love with the

modern kitchen. The positivity continued as she looked around the three bedrooms, but Natalie struggled to come to terms with the "upside down layout" of the house, with the master

bedroom downstairs, and kitchen on the top floor. The BBC presenter hoped to make a better impression with her third property, which was a semi-detached Victorian-style house. It provided a

blank canvas with no furniture, and Natalie admitted she could see herself living there and decorating each room to her own taste. It offered three bedrooms and three reception rooms, and

there was nothing she would change about it. She said: "I can't see any downsides right now." Overwhelmed by Natalie's positive attitude, Nikki said: "My goodness I

don't know what to say." Both Ruth and Natalie thought the house was nicely decorated and Natalie said it felt like "home." Ruth added: "I haven't stopped

smiling yet." The property gave Natalie everything she was looking for within her budget, priced at £495,000. She said she could "move straight in". After finding her dream

house, it came as no surprise that she was less enthusiastic about Nikki's Mystery House. She showed the buyers a unique gothic style converted chapel which was a huge renovation

project. Natalie admitted: "It's a bit too much for me." She added: "It's a brilliant renovation project for somebody, just not me." In the end, she decided to

book in for a second viewing for her dream property, which was the semi-detached house. However, she was too late and the house had already been sold to another buyer. Natalie said she would

continue her search, now knowing exactly what she was looking for. Article continues below ECAPE TO THE COUNTRY AIRS WEEKDAYS ON BBC ONE AND BBC IPLAYER
