aged 95. The Hollywood actor was found dead alongside his wife, Betsy Arakawa, at their home in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The police force has issued a statement and provided an update on the
cause of death as they do not believe foul play was a factor. A statement said: "We can confirm that both Gene Hackman and his wife were found deceased Wednesday afternoon at their
residence on Sunset Trail. "This is an active investigation - however, at this time we do not believe that foul play was a factor." Mr Hackman, renowned for his roles in the French
Connection and Superman, had been married to Ms Arakawa since 1991. The couple were found dead alongside their dog at their home on Wednesday afternoon. The news was confirmed by Santa Fe
County Sheriff, Adan Mendoza. Speaking to local media, he said: "All I can say is that we're in the middle of a preliminary death investigation, waiting on approval of a search
warrant." Article continues below Mr Hackman won two Academy Awards across his six decade career. He shot to stardom in 1967 with his breakthrough role as Buck Barrow in Bonnie and
Clyde. He won the Best Actor Oscar with his portrayal of "Popeye" Doyle in the 1971 classic, The French Connection. He collected another prestigious statue when he picked up the
Best Supporting Actor Academy Award in 1993 for his performance as Sheriff "Little" Bill Daggett in Unforgiven. Mr Hackman is regarded as one of Hollywood's finest ever actors
as he also starred in classics such as The Conversation throughout his career. He also enjoyed mainstream success with his role as Lex Luthor in Superman. Article continues below Mr Hackman
