THE STORE ANNOUNCED IT WILL BE CLOSING AFTER OVER A DECADE IN THE CITY 17:48, 12 Mar 2025 Liverpool was once described as the "ideal destination" a Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar.

But after 13 years in the city, the store is set to shut. One of Liverpool ONE's biggest retailers, the Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar is located on Manesty's Lane in the city centre

and opened its doors for the first time back in 2012 in the former Habitat unit. Earlier today, March 12, it was announced that the branch will soon be closing its doors. The ECHO

understands staff at the Beauty Bazaar were informed of the planned closure on Tuesday, March 11 and that the planned closure of the store is set to take place mid-April. In October 2012,

the new beauty store was officially opened by American socialite and model Olivia Palermo. READ MORE: Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar to close Liverpool ONE storeREAD MORE: 'I Imagine it

feels like the world ending for people losing their income' At the time, Olivia Palermo said: "I loved my time in Liverpool and Beauty Bazaar, Harvey Nichols is a truly unique

experience. When can we have one in New York?" Other famous faces invited to the launch included Atomic Kitten singer Liz McClarnon and model Danielle Lloyd. Dozens of customers lined

up behind a wall of photographers in the hope of catching a glimpse of the celebrities outside. They were then allowed in for a first look at the glossy beauty displays, treatment rooms and

champagne bar. In the days prior to the opening, the ECHO were given a first look and exclusive tour inside Liverpool’s glamorous new Harvey Nichols beauty emporium. Images, unearthed from

our archive, capture finishing touches being added to the store, staff busy unpacking boxes and filling shelves with brands including MAC, YSL, Tom Ford and Chanel and celebrations on

opening day. The 22,000 sq ft store was previously described as "the ultimate one-stop beauty destination," creating up to 100 jobs and contains several discreet tanning and

treatment rooms on the second floor. The ground floor was full of beauty products and the first level included Mark Woolley’s Electric Hair Lounge, brow, lash and nail bars and - the star

attraction - a champagne and cocktail ‘Wow bar’ When Harvey Nichols chiefs were looking for a location to debut their new beauty emporium, Liverpool fitted the bill perfectly. In October

2012, Daniela Rinaldi, Harvey Nichols group concessions and beauty director, told the ECHO research indicated "Liverpool would be the ideal destination." The city was the second

most lucrative beauty market in the UK outside of London, with "average spends of four times the national average." At the time, people from Liverpool were also deemed 35% more

likely to buy tanning products than anywhere else in the country, boasting approximately 300 tanning salons – six times the national average. Daniela Rinaldi previously said: "Beauty

Bazaar, Harvey Nichols will be the first one-stop destination for all things beauty. We had a clear strategy for Beauty Bazaar, and Liverpool sat perfectly within that grid from our point of

view because, there is no doubt about it, the girls from Liverpool and the surrounding areas are incredibly glamorous. "Some people seem to be hooked up on this thing about why we’re

opening in Liverpool but my answer to that is ‘Why not?’ We’re committed to this project and have intentions of opening in London and other cities and are looking to take it internationally,

but there’s nothing like having it first. "And Liverpool is beautiful. I had a walk down to the docks and the buildings are beautiful." Despite the city having an abundance of

beauty salons, tanning salons and stores, Ms Rinaldi believed "Harvey Nics" would fill a gap by providing a high-end beauty destination where customers can have all their needs met

in one location. She added: "We had to have the right space in the right location. This is a truly unique space which houses the best brands in the market alongside the latest services

that will ensure grooming of the highest level, within the convenience of one space." Earlier today, The ECHO reported how Harvey Nichols Beauty Bazaar is set to shut after over a

decade in the city. In a statement shared with the ECHO, a Harvey Nichols spokesperson said: “As we implement our strategy to reposition Harvey Nichols for growth, our emphasis is on full

category stores within our estate. “We have reviewed our store portfolio and mutually agreed with the Landlord of our Beauty Bazaar location in Liverpool to surrender the lease as we focus

on investment into full-category stores. Unfortunately, this means that our employees in the Liverpool store may be at risk of redundancy. "We have entered into a consultation process

and are doing everything we can to support those affected by the surrender." A spokesperson from Liverpool ONE said: "Beauty Bazaar Harvey Nichols has made an important

contribution to Liverpool ONE’s success since opening in 2012. "We’re committed to bringing the best, in-demand brands to Liverpool ONE and we have well-progressed plans to transform

the space that will ensure Liverpool ONE continues to go from the strength-to-strength. We look forward to sharing an update soon." Readers have since shared their sympathies for staff.

ECHO reader Kate Piper said she was "gutted" as she used Harvey Nichols for facials and Espa products. Article continues below Paige Halewood added: "It's sad that a lot

of staff are losing their jobs." Rhian Metcalf said: "Love this store and the staff are great. Feel sorry for them x The first floor of the building is also a permanent location

for several independent business owners, such as nail bars and make-up artists. One store owner, who remained anonymous, said: "We are still so shocked and upset. They just told us

yesterday they’re laying everybody off."
