JAY HAD TRAVELLED TO TENERIFE WITH TWO FRIENDS WHEN HE DIED 13:07, 21 May 2025 An inquest into Jay Slater's death was put on hold this morning as it's understood a friend who
"couldn't be located" is currently in Tenerife. The 19-year-old, who died in Tenerife on Monday, June 17, 2024, had flown to Tenerife with friends last June to attend the NRG
music festival in Playa de las Americas. A huge search for the 19 year-old came to a devastating end on July 15, 2024, four weeks after he vanished, when police discovered Jay's, an
apprentice bricklayer from Oswaldtwistle, 'lifeless body'. Moments after the inquest into his death started today, at around 11am, the coroner told the hearing how some of the
teen's friends could not be located. Senior Coroner Dr James Adeley said: "We can't find them. They have denied who they are and we have had police looking for them but we
can't find them." Coroner's officer Alice Swarbrick was asked to give evidence to describe the extensive attempts she went to in order to track down witnesses, including Ayub
Qassim, who had rented the Airbnb Jay went back to after the NRG music festival. The inquest then heard that the coroner "has had the Met Police out looking for" Ayub Qassim but
they have been unable to locate him. Police also attempted to serve a witness summons on Lucy Law, one of two friends who travelled to Tenerife with Jay, but were unable to locate her. Ms
Swarbrick said it was understood that Lucy is currently in Tenerife. Bradley Hargreaves, who travelled to Tenerife with Jay and Lucy, is also currently on holiday, which was booked last
October, the inquest has also heard. _WE WILL BE BRINGING YOU LIVE UPDATES FROM PRESTON CORONER'S COURT AS THE INQUEST IS ONGOING TODAY, WHICH YOU CAN FOLLOW HERE._ Article continues
