Leicestershire residents are being urged to immediately check their tumble dryers following an urgent fire safety warning. Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) said eight brands of
heat pump tumble dryers pose a fire risk and should be stopped from use immediately. The warning affects tumble dryers from Baumatic, Candy, Caple, Haier, Hoover, Iberna, Lamona and
Montpellier brands. The Office for Product Safety and Standards said the products present a risk of fire as it is possible for an internal short circuit to happen within the tumble dryer
during normal use. Officials said this can cause the tumble dryer to ignite, causing a fire. The products do not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations 2016

affected models immediately and contact manufacturers to arrange for a free modification. They added further advice saying the product should not be used until the modification has taken
place. People were also told that if the plug is accessible, they should switch off and unplug the appliance. The warning covers several numbers across the eight affected brands. If you have
purchased the appliance second-hand or been gifted the appliance you are still entitled to a free of charge modification. Affected tumble dryers include: BAUMATIC HEAT PUMP TUMBLE DRYER
