Coronation Street's cast 'burst into tears' upon learning one co-star would be leaving after 14 years. On Wednesday night, Colson Smith left the hit ITV soap after his

character, Craig Tinker, was killed off in devastating scenes. Appearing on Thursday's This Morning, Craig star Colson, 26, spoke about his exit and how he learnt he would be leaving

the ITV soap from producers. Colson said of his co-stars' reactions to hearing about his departure: "That was the toughest thing for me, I found out on a night and then I went back

in the next day. It was Helen Worth's, who played Gail Platt, last day. "So I went in and was like: 'I'm about to ruin Helen's last day, I can't do this. Do I

keep it a secret?' by the time I got into work, everyone knew and it was like Colson had died. "I walked into the green room and just awkwardly laughed. Lucy Fallon [who plays

Bethany Platt] was heavily pregnant at the time and she burst into tears. "Julia Goulding [Shona Platt] was crying all day, I felt for Jack and Ben [David Platt and Nick Tilsley] they

were losing their mum and they found out their mate was going. "It was a real rollercoaster of emotions and it has been all the way through. The last day, Andy Whyment [who plays Kirk

Sutherland] was crying from the morning. "He couldn't even park his car straight on the morning, I was like: 'You can't do that, we're going to have to leave parking

today.' I listened to Macy Gray in the car, which I don't think helped him either!" Earlier this year, Colson announced his departure from the soap, revealing: "Autumn

last year I was told that Craig Tinkers time on the Cobbles is to come to end in 2025." He went on to express his gratitude for his 14-year tenure on the show, as well as crediting the

show with teaching him valuable life lessons. Colson signed off his announcement with: "For Me, this is just the end of the beginning. I genuinely can't wait to see what chapter 2

has in store for me. LONG LIVE THE COBBLES!" Talking about what's next for him on Thursday's This Morning, Colson teased: "Who knows, honestly! It's very bizarre

leaving something you've done for so long as I think you start to question: 'Who's Colson, what does he want to do?' "I've been enjoying sitting in the garden

but I know I want to do more work as myself. I love telly now, I've found this is my home, so I want to spend more time in telly. "I want to do more stuff as Colson, so yeah, we

shall see what happens! I'll be happy with whatever! More podcasting, more presenting stuff, audio stuff, that's the stuff I love, so watch this space and we'll see what

happens!" CORONATION STREET CONTINUES ON MONDAYS, WEDNESDAYS AND FRIDAYS AT 8PM ON ITV AND ITV X. EPISODES ARE ALSO AVAILABLE TO WATCH FROM 7AM EACH WEEKDAY ON ITV X.
