Deluxe hesby apartments for creative types opens in north hollywood

Another large-scale apartment complex – this one catering to creative young professionals – has opened in the NoHo Arts District as real estate development continues in the North Hollywood

neighborhood. The latest to come online is the $50-million Hesby, a luxury dwelling intended to tap into NoHo’s arty reputation. It has what its owners call a writers’ cafe with coffee bar,

a music rehearsal studio and an outdoor movie venue among its tenant amenities. The 308-unit complex at 5031 Fair Ave. and Hesby Street was built by Alliance Residential Co., a Phoenix

multifamily developer and apartment manager. Other features meant to draw renters are a gym, a yoga studio, an “outdoor living room” with a bar, barbecues and a swimming pool with underwater

speakers. The six-story building was designed by Killefer Flammang Architects and built on an empty lot formerly occupied by 1930s bungalows and small apartment buildings erected in the

the neighborhood into a pedestrian-friendly urban village near a major rail and bus transit hub. Rents at the Hesby range from $1,820 a month for a studio to $3,220 for a two-bedroom,

two-bath unit. Last year the $32-million NoHo Senior Arts Colony opened in what developer Meta Housing Corp. said was the region’s first pairing of housing and live theater. It is intended
