Midweek storm to break dry spell

The recent dry weather is expected to end Wednesday when a storm system, currently over the north Pacific, will make its way through Southern California, forecasters said. “It doesn’t look


like a major storm,” said John Sherwin, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information to The Times. “Basically, it will be a day of rain and it’s back to the dry


pattern.” Today’s morning lows in the Valley will be in the low 50s, giving way to sunny skies with a few high clouds and afternoon highs in the mid-70s to low 80s, Sherwin said. Early


morning lows today were expected to be 50 in Woodland Hills, 51 in Chatsworth and Van Nuys, and 52 in Burbank. Afternoon highs will be 80 in Woodland Hills, 79 in Chatsworth, 78 in Van Nuys


and 77 in Burbank, said Sherwin. Increasing high clouds and slightly cooler afternoon temperatures are forecast for Tuesday, with highs ranging from the mid- to upper 70s. Morning lows will


be in the low 50s. Cloudy skies and showers resulting from the storm system are forecast for Wednesday. Morning lows on Wednesday will be in the low to mid-50s, with afternoon highs in the


mid-60s to low 70s. There is a chance of showers Thursday morning, but the storm system should be moving out of the area by the afternoon, Sherwin said. Cooler overnight and early morning
