Both drivers involved in an accident that killed two people were drunk, and one will be charged with manslaughter once an investigation is complete, authorities said Monday. “The one who
caused the accident will be facing manslaughter charges,” California Highway Patrol Officer Jack Raughton said. “The other one will be charged with drunk driving. But we still have to figure
out who did what.” Jorge L. Vasquez, 28, and Arnulfo E. Salazar, 26, both of Camarillo, remained hospitalized Monday. Vasquez was traveling alone about 11:30 p.m Saturday when his car
collided head-on with Salazar’s car on Hueneme Road east of Oxnard, authorities said. Two passengers in Salazar’s car were killed. Two other passengers were seriously hurt but were expected
to survive. They also remained hospitalized in area hospitals Monday. Blood-alcohol tests revealed both drivers were over the legal limit of .08, Raughton said. Vasquez was in stable
condition in St. John’s Pleasant Valley Hospital and Salazar was in fair condition in the intensive care unit at St. John’s Medical Center in Oxnard. Both men have been arrested, Raughton
