A Simi Valley man’s condition improved Monday as he continued to recover from being shot by a policeman during a family dispute over the weekend. The condition of Wesley Simpson, 42, was
upgraded from critical to serious, said JoLynn de la Torre, a spokeswoman for Simi Valley Hospital. Simi Valley Police Officer Jeff McGreevy shot Simpson once in the abdomen with a shotgun
at about 8 p.m. Saturday after he allegedly raised a rifle toward the officer, police said. McGreevy will remain off patrol duty until he discusses the shooting with a psychologist hired by
the department, Lt. Tony Harper said. Such interviews are standard procedure after shootings. So is the investigation of the incident that department detectives are conducting this week,
Harper said. McGreevy joined the force as a rookie in 1991, Harper said. MORE TO READ
