A Conejo Symphony pops concert scheduled for Sunday at Cal Lutheran University has been canceled. Designed as a benefit for the Conejo Symphony Orchestra, the afternoon event would have
included a concert, arts show and street fair. But symphony organizers realized this week that they could not get the program organized in time. “It just became logistically too difficult,”
Conejo Symphony Director Everett Ascher said. The group began planning the event at the end of March but found that “45 days was just not enough time to do this,” he added. Ascher had hoped
to raise $5,000 with the street fair and pops concert. But even with the cancellation, he predicted the symphony would reach its goal of raising $25,000 this year. To help reach that target,
symphony members are organizing a June 5 benefit called “A Day at Ascot.” Scheduled for 11:30 a.m. at the Foxfield Riding Academy in Westlake Village, the event will feature a champagne
brunch and an equestrian drill team performance. Tickets cost $55. For more information about the June benefit, call the symphony office at 495-6833. MORE TO READ
