Troubled calexico hospital votes to fire administrator

SAN DIEGO — The board of directors of troubled Calexico Hospital in the Imperial Valley has voted to fire administrator Robert Trautman from his $96,000-a-year job. The 4-1 vote came Monday


night after months of feuding between Trautman and the Calexico Chronicle. The weekly newspaper’s publisher and managing editor, Lupe Acuna and Hildy Carrillo-Rivera, are hospital board


members. The 35-bed public hospital has been virtually empty in the last year and employees have gone weeks without being paid. Last week the Calexico City Council indicated that it would
