Chaminade High center Carmen Rossi missed a four-foot shot as time expired, and Harvard-Westlake escaped with a 52-51 victory in a Mission League basketball game Wednesday night.
Harvard-Westlake improved to 13-0 (3-0 in league play) while Chaminade (4-8, 0-3) lost its sixth game of the season by fewer than three points. Although Chaminade did not have a starter
taller than 6-feet-2, the Eagles managed to stay in the game by running a deliberate, spread offense that did not allow Harvard-Westlake’s Collins twins (Jason, 6-8, and Jaron, 6-7) to be
effective inside on defense. In other boys’ basketball games: Crespi 77, St. Bernard 65--Celt forward Gianandrea Marcaccini scored 21 points to lead the Celts in a Mission League game at

a one-point deficit after three quarters in the Channel League game at Ventura. Camarillo 74, Simi Valley 59--Jim Hansen scored 22 points and Andrew Richards and Kevin Nathaniel each added
15 as Camarillo (5-6, 1-0) upset the Pioneers (10-4, 1-1) in a Marmonte League game at Camarillo. St. Francis 44, Bosco Tech 41--Dan Bir and Chris Ott each scored 14 points to lead the

(7-6, 2-0) to the Valley Pac-8 Conference victory. Poly 75, Sherman Oaks CES 45--Darrin Drew scored a 30 points for Poly (6-4, 1-1) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
