I commend Dave Hoen (“One Man Comes Out to Be True to Himself,” Oct. 7) for coming to terms with his sexuality and exposing to the masses the truth of his sexual preference, with the hopes
of becoming a positive role model for those closeted lesbians and gay men pining for personal liberation. Being afflicted with a homosexual sexuality is emotionally tumultuous; especially if
one is courageous enough to exist openly with these feelings. Hoen’s ex-wife’s comments that Hoen is “normal in every way except for his sexual preference” and the explanation given to
their children that Hoen has “made some bad choices” in reference to his homosexuality, are the kind of understandings by many that are completely single-minded and harmful. MICHAEL TAYLOR
