Two Los Angeles County officials Friday asked for a review of the operations of the child-abuse hot line in the wake of the drowning of 2 1/2-year-old twins in a swimming pool in Tujunga.

The toddlers were found after a neighbor called the hot line earlier in the day. Schuyler Sprowles, a spokesman for the Department of Children’s Services, said his agency was correct in

labeling the call a non-emergency. “You look back on this situation with a lot of regret,” he said. “Anyone in children’s services looks at this situation as a tragedy that should not have

occurred. But everything was carried out in a professional and uniform manner.” MORE TO READ
