About 200 Shining Path Maoist guerrillas swept this week into three remote Andean hamlets, killing 45 people, most of them members of peasant militias. Newspapers reported that the rebels
arrived on buses and trucks in the towns of Llillactambo, Choras and Chavinillo, killing 34 people after a mock trial in the main square of Choras. Later, the guerrillas killed six people in
