ST. LOUIS — Forward Chico Borja started and ended a four-goal run over a 22-minute span in the first and second periods, leading the Los Angeles Lazers to a 5-2 Major Indoor Soccer League
victory Friday night over the St. Louis Steamers.
The victory moves the Lazers into a first-place tie in the Western Division standings with the Steamers. Both teams are 4-3.
Borja’s goals, his seventh and eighth of the season, gave the Lazers a 5-1 lead before halftime. Mike Windishman and Chris Chueden also scored for the Lazers during the decisive spree.
Forward Nebo Bandovic scored his 13th goal of the year for St. Louis in the final period.
Chris Whyte opened the scoring for the Lazers in the first period when set up by Borja at 3:19. The Steamers tied it, 1-1, before Borja’s first goal at 11:52 on a pass from Paul Child.
