ON THE TOWN: Is this going to be a big summer for concertgoing? You better believe it. Many of the exact dates aren’t set yet, but according to several key sources, here’s how the lineup of
superstar shows looks. First off, Mick Jagger and Tina Turner have put together a combined tour package (with Jeff Beck slated to anchor Jagger’s band) that should hit town in late July or
early August, with several nights possible at both the Pacific Amphitheatre and the Forum. David Bowie is also slated to arrive in August, with a possible date at Anaheim Stadium. You can
also expect Duran Duran to arrive at the Forum in late July, while Madonna is shooting for an outdoor date in July at either Anaheim Stadium or the Rose Bowl. Other tentative tour plans
include a Bon Jovi arena date in late June, a Bob Dylan-Grateful Dead package in late July and a Pink Floyd concert (sans Roger Waters) coming in October. Rock fans also have some tough
calls coming up even sooner: Billy Joel (who’s at the Long Beach Arena) will go head-to-head with Eric Clapton (at the Pacific Amphitheatre) on April 13. Then on April 17, the field gets
even more crowded, with a choice between U-2 at the Sports Arena, the Grateful Dead at Irvine Meadows and an Elvis Costello college date at Bren Events Center at UC Irvine. MORE TO READ
