Bay Area Rapid Transit system train operators and stations agents have approved a new three-year contract that includes a 4% yearly salary increase. The union, which represents 500 workers,
approved the pact on a 186-108 vote. BART officials said the agreement will allow the system to operate 20 to 30 more trains a day. The contract calls for schedule concessions that permit
split shifts and the hiring of part-time workers. The concessions will allow the system to run between 67 and 75 trains a day. The old contract limited BART to 43 trains a day. MORE TO READ
