two big films releasing this month. While one is a big budget, big banner film Raees that also stars Shah Rukh Khan, the other Haraamkhor is big on content, rather controversial content.
The film Haraamkhor that stars Masaan fame actress Shweta Tripathi, is set to release in theatres this week on January 13th. In the film, Nawazuddin plays a teacher who takes undue advantage
of one of his female students. The character he plays might not go down well with the audience but that is the last thing that is worrying the actor. In an interview with film critic Rajeev
Masand, the actor opened up about his criteria of choosing a role. Nawazuddin said, “I don’t give a damn about the audience or about how my image will be affected by playing a certain role.
In fact, I first grab the most unlikeable characters! That helps me break the clichés and doesn’t limit me as an actor. The day I start thinking on those lines, my performance will become
corrupt.” The actor further said that thinking about the budget of the film has never been a criteria for him to sign a project, “For an actor that doesn’t matter. It is not his job to think
about the monies. The only job as an actor is to follow the director’s vision and perform,” he said further admitting the sad fact that if the movie is a hit, one’s average performance is
also applauded and if the film flops, one’s brilliant performance also falls short! (ALSO READ: HARAAMKHOR ACTRESS SHWETA TRIPATHI SAYS WORKING WITH NAWAZUDDIN SIDDIQUI WAS LIKE WORKING WITH
A NEWCOMER) The actor, who gained fame with his performances in films like Gangs of Wasseypur and Kahaani, says that success has changed the way people behave around him. “There has been no
change in me, or in the way I perform. While I have gained experience but my instinct remains the same. But yes, the way people look at me has changed. I am now taken seriously,” Nawazuddin
said further revealing that he is at a happy space right now in his career since he is getting to do diverse roles. (ALSO READ: NAWAZUDDIN SIDDIQUI UPSET ABOUT FILM REVIEWS ON SOCIAL MEDIA
BY PEOPLE WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FILM REVIEWING!) The actor who will next be seen playing a cop in Raees who takes on the liquor gangster Raees Aslam played by Shah Rukh Khan also talked
about his experience of working with King Khan. Nawaz revealed, “I had a great time doing scenes with him. Shah Rukh Khan told me on day one that he will fully respect the character that I
play and will not cross the line. He was not a superstar in the film, he was the character Raees Aslam and that maintained us to maintain the chemistry between the two characters – his
gangster Raees Aslam and my cop Majmudar,” Nawazuddin signed off. [embedded content] ALSO READ: * * *
