Leeds United want Mergim Berisha but Fenerbahce are also negotiating a potential deal with Bundesliga side Stuttgart. It’s no great surprise that Leeds are now focusing on signing a striker
to boost Jesse Marsch’s squad. Patrick Bamford needs support in attack and whilst there are high hopes for Joe Gelhardt, another option is needed. Deals for Arnaud Kalimuendo and Charles De
Ketelaere look very difficult amid interest from other clubs. There could be another option in the mix though – and one who knows Jesse Marsch very well. LEEDS UNITED WANT MERGIM BERISHA
Yeni Şafak reported on Sunday that Leeds have made a move to sign Fenerbahce striker Mergim Berisha. It was suggested that Leeds were offering around £1.7million for Berisha whereas
Fenerbahce were demanding £4.2million. That means Leeds aren’t too far away from a deal for Berisha if true. The problem is that Leeds face competition as Fotomac report that Stuttgart are
also keen. MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES It’s claimed that Stuttgart have made a loan offer for Berisha but Fenerbahce have made it clear that they want a permanent clause as part of the deal.
Berisha has no future under Jorge Jesus and Fenerbahce seemingly don’t want him coming back to Turkey next year. Stuttgart are trying to fend off interest in their star striker Sasa
Kalajdzic but may well be lining up potential replacements for the Austrian. Berisha certainly fits the bill as a physical centre forward – even if he’s not quite as tall as the giant
Kalajdzic. Berisha hails from German so a move back to his homeland could appeal, meaning Leeds face a real battle for his signature. The 24-year-old played under Marsch at Red Bull Salzburg
and hit 22 goals in his final season with the club. Marsch wanted Berisha at RB Leipzig last summer but no deal was done; maybe we shouldn’t be surprised that the Leeds boss is keen again.
Berisha is available and cheaper than Kalimuendo or De Ketelaere, but whether he is the calibre of striker really need is another matter.
