Nowadays, everybody at Newcastle is looking forward to the future, after Amanda Staveley and Mehrdad Ghodoussi took the reins from Mike Ashley. As the Magpies sit ninth in the Premier
League, few people are thinking about the days of Steve Bruce, Alan Pardew, Steve McClaren and so on. Quite rightly, they are now a distant memory, although there’s one man who the Toon Army
would perhaps like to have back at St James’ Park. WHAT’S THE STORY? Well, since Rafa Benitez sold him to Fulham in 2018, Aleksandr Mitrovic has become one of the most lethal strikers in
England. The Serbian joined the Cottagers for £22m, and that now looks like a bargain as he was named Championship Player of the Season. > 🏆 The #SkyBetChampionship Player of the Season

> — Sky Bet Championship (@SkyBetChamp) April 24, 2022 Mitrovic earned the award after smashing all kinds of records in England’s second tier this term, including Ivan Toney’s record for
most goals in a 46-game campaign. The 27-year-old has remarkably scored 41 goals in 41 Championship appearances this season, breaking Toney’s record of 31 goals which he set last season.
Mitrovic now has 94 goals in 174 appearances for Fulham, which is an outstanding record to say the least. MORE NEWCASTLE UNITED STORIES ALEKSANDR MITROVIC COULD HAUNT NEWCASTLE Fulham have
now officially been promoted back to the Premier League, which means Newcastle are set to be reunited with Mitrovic next season. The Magpies are expected to bolster their backline with new
signings, but even still, they should expect to be threatened offensively by the man they let go in 2018. Nobody has ever scored more than 31 goals in a Championship season, let alone 41, so
Mitrovic will come back into the Premier League with his confidence sky-high. Who knows? If he performs more goalscoring heroics in the top-flight, Eddie Howe might consider bringing him
back. As we’ve discussed already, it wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world.
