The Inter Milan striker, currently on loan at Santos, is a 2016 Olympic gold medallist in men’s football alongside Neymar. Everton and West Ham United could be set for a transfer coup in
January if the latest report regarding Gabriel Barbosa is anything to go by. The Brazil international, also known as Gabigol, is on the books of Serie A giants Inter Milan but has made just
10 appearances for the Nerazzurri since his 2016 move from Santos (Transfermarkt). Gabigol has spent most of his time at Inter playing elsewhere on loan, first at Portuguese club Benfica and
then back at his former employers Santos in Brazil, where he has netted 18 goals in 35 appearances this year. One prior report from Goal Brazil has claimed that the Toffees and the Hammers
have been in talks with Kia Joorabchian, the player’s agent, over a potential stint in the Premier League. Now, Yahoo Sports in Brazil have upped the speculation ante by saying Gabigol is
currently in negotiations with an unnamed Premier League side in the top half of the table – which covers both Everton (eighth) and West Ham (ninth). In addition, the report states that the
22-year-old has put in a request to the Football Association for a work permit to play in the United Kingdom, which suggests more than just a fleeting interest in coming to the Premier
League. With Richarlison impressing at Everton and Felipe Anderson doing likewise at West Ham, could either of them soon be joined by their compatriot – a gold medal winner in Olympic men’s
football alongside Neymar two years ago?
