The discovery of the bodies of two young children in Kupwara and Baramulla in the last nearly two months has caused consternation and panic in the entire northern Kashmir region as the
police still have no clue how the children ended up being found dead away from their homes. As the investigation agencies are yet to make any headway in the gruesome murder of the Kupwara
minor boy, one more murder of a minor girl at Trikanjan Boniyar in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district has rattled the residents of north kashmir. The body of Muskan Jan, 10, a resident of
Trikanjan Boniyar who was missing since August 23 from her home was traced by some locals in a mutilated and decomposed state on Sunday, one km away from her home in a nearby forest. Locals
including some officials of the health department who visited the spot had found bangles, shoes and trouser where she lay. While Umar Farooq,10, who hails from Gulgam Kupwara, mysteriously
disappeared from his home on July 18, and three days after his disappearance, his body was spotted two kilometres away from his home near a stream. In both the cases victims were of same
age group and their bodies were disfigured almost beyond recognition. The body of Umar Farooq was charred and with an arm chopped off while the body of Muskan Jan was almost unrecognisable.
The flesh on most parts of her body was missing, while her visceral and eye balls were missing. The doctors who conducted her autopsy at Baramulla district hospital have revealed that her
body was in the decomposed state and it was hard to conduct even autopsy on her body. The gruesome murder of Umar Farooq had earlier caught the attention of top politicians and police,
including former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti, Omar Farooq, and the Director general of police, SP Vaid, who in their tweets has described the murder as ‘painful’. The director General of
police, SP Vaid in his tweet has said “SIT constituted for child’s murder in Kupwara. We shall work out this case soon. I have confidence in my team,” J & K DGP SP Vaid has said on
Twitter. While former chief minister, Mehbooba Mufti, said ‘the act should shake the faith of the society’. The senior officials of Jammu and Kashmir police in Baramulla has assured the
locals of Trikanjan Boniyar that the investigation in the mysterious death of Muskan jan has been started and will be completed within the stipulated time.
