A sports club's home has netted a £1,500 windfall from housebuilder. Nunthorpe and Marton Playing Fields Association received the donation from Barratt Homes’ Grey Towers Village

development to support organised sports in the local community. For the past 60 years, the group has been dedicated to providing residents within three-quarters of a mile access to a

well-maintained field on Guisborough Road in Nunthorpe. Originally gifted by Lady Harrison for community use, the field is now home to various sports clubs, including squash, tennis,

football, athletics, and cricket. The £1,500 contribution will bolster the charity's maintenance program, ensuring that the facilities remain in excellent condition for all users. This

donation aligns with the Barratt Developments Community Fund, an initiative designed to uplift communities in areas where new developments are underway. Chris Foggin, chairman of Nunthorpe

& Marton Playing Fields Association, said: “We are truly thankful to Barratt Homes North East for this generous support. It will play an essential role in our maintenance efforts and

ensure that our playing fields are ready for the upcoming spring and summer sports.” Hayley Neale, sales manager at Barratt Homes’ Grey Towers Village development, said: “We are delighted to

assist Nunthorpe & Marton Playing Fields Association through our Community Fund donation. For six decades, they have provided a vital space for both adults and children to engage in a

variety of organized sports. With our Grey Towers Village development nearby, we recognize the importance of such community facilities and hope our contribution will positively impact the

local area.” FOR TEESSIDE UPDATES AND BREAKING NEWS DIRECT TO YOUR INBOX EVERY DAY, GO HERE TO SIGN UP TO OUR FREE NEWSLETTER JOIN TEESSIDE LIVE'S WHATSAPP COMMUNITY FOR TOP STORIES AND
