A teenage girl has been taken to hospital after she was hit by a bus in Saltburn. The 14-year-old was taken to James Cook University Hospital with a suspected serious head injury on
Saturday, May 31. Emergency services were called to a collision involving a bus and the 14-year-old pedestrian at around 11pm on Marske Road, in Saltburn. Officers are now appealing for
witnesses or anyone with information about the collision to come forward. The road, which is one of the main routes in and out of the seaside town, was closed between the junction with West
Avenue and and Ruskin Avenue for several hours into the early hours of Sunday, June 1. A spokesperson for the North East Ambulance Service confirmed on Sunday: "We dispatched two
ambulance crews and a clinical team leader to the scene, and requested support from our colleagues at the Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) who attended by road.” A spokesperson for
Stagecoach North East said: "We can confirm there was an incident involving one of our vehicles on Saturday evening in Saltburn, which has resulted in a member of the public being
treated in hospital. "Safety remains our number one priority. We are working with the police in their enquiries, to determine the full circumstances of this incident.” Photographs from
the scene show a road block in place and damage to the windscreen of the bus. A spokesperson for Cleveland Police said: "Officers are appealing for information on a collision involving
a coach and a 14-year-old girl in Saltburn yesterday, Saturday 31st May. "The incident happened at around 11pm on Marske Road in Saltburn. The girl was taken to James Cook University
Hospital with a suspected serious head injury. "Witnesses or anyone who has dashcam footage, doorbell footage or CCTV should call 101 quoting reference 98624." FOR TEESSIDE UPDATES
