Youngsters at a Teesside nursery have a new way of learning thanks to a tipi. Rosedene Nurseries has officially unveiled the new outdoor educational tipi at its Easterside setting in

Middlesbrough, a space for children to explore, play and learn in nature. The tipi was officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant of North Yorkshire, Jo Ropner, who joined nursery children and

staff for a celebration of curiosity, creativity, and connection to the natural world. Families, local authority representatives, and community guests also attended and tried out the new

offering. The tipi, erected after an increasing demand for early years provision with funding support from Middlesbrough Council, has enabled the nursery to expand its capacity, offering

more places. Alice Haslam, managing director at Rosedene Nurseries, said: "Everything we do at Rosedene is grounded in the belief that children thrive in environments that nurture their

curiosity and wellbeing. This tipi is a perfect example of that, a space where imagination can run wild, and learning happens naturally through play and exploration." The tipi features

distinct zones including a quiet reading nook, a wellbeing space for mindfulness and yoga, areas for forest school-inspired activities, and creative play corners. Jo Ropner, Lord Lieutenant

of North Yorkshire, said: "It's a really fantastic community project. I think everybody in this area must be so thrilled and proud to have the tipi opening – and not just that,

but also to see the rest of the school and the dedication of the teachers and what that brings for children was extraordinary." Cllr Tony Grainge said: "I love the atmosphere in it

– my son's in there right now playing, he loves being in there. What I love about Rosedene generally is it's continually growing the activities for the kids. They always keep it

fresh and engaging. I think this tipi is just a great addition to our already amazing facility." FOR BREAKING NEWS IN YOUR AREA DIRECT TO YOUR INBOX EVERY DAY, GO HERE TO SIGN UP TO OUR
