"summit" to devise a strategy to take the industry forward. Delegates agreed an action plan which highlighted developing the quality standard mark to cover processed products, such


as sausages and pies, as one of its main priorities. At the moment the mark covers only bacon, pork and ham. Other points included encouraging the development of new products to make better


use of less popular cuts of the pig carcass and looking at whether cost savings could be made by integrating the various elements of the supply chain.
