Thorsteinsson resigns as chairman of Eimskip parent Magnus Thorsteinsson has resigned with immediate effect as chairman of Hf. Eimskipafelag Islands, the Icelandic investment company
specializing in the transport sector and parent of Reykjavik-based shipping and logistics company Eimskip. Thorsteinsson holds a controlling interest in the company, which has appointed
Sindri Sindrason as his replacement. A new board of directors will be elected at the next annual general meeting to be held before the end of February. The company said Thorsteinsson’s
decision was not influenced by the Competition Authority of Iceland’s decision to fine Eimskip ISK 310 million ($4.9 million) for anticompetitive behavior in 2001 and 2002, as he was not
connected to the company during that period.
