Footage captured the terrifying moment a giant cargo tanker smashed into a historic waterfront mansion with a devastating effect. The video captured the massive ship as it hurtled towards
Istanbul’s Bosphorus strait in Turkey. The crash was filmed from inside a restaurant situated on the waterfront. As the ship sailed straight for the harbour, staff and dinners inside the
restaurant manically run out of the way. At first glance, it looks as though the cargo ship is going to smash straight into the restaurant. However the cargo narrowly misses the restaurant
and continues towards the building next door. The mansion, which has stood since the 18th century, wasn’t quite so lucky and took the full force of the ship. Destroyed by the tanker, the
walls and upper floors of the mansion collapsed into the water below. According to Aljazeera, the Maltese-flag ship pulled away from the house revealing the extensive damage. Towboats and
coastguards arrived on the scene, and fortunately, no casualties were reported by the Turkish media. Advertisement Waterside mansions, such as this one, are among a long list of historical
and expensive properties in Bosphorus. After the collision, water traffic in both directions was suspended, adding to the chaos. According to the Istanbul governorate, the ship was anchored
at the time, yet this did not stop it from smashing into the shore. This is not the first time a ship has been captured smashing into the shore. Previous viral footage spread after a cruise
ship was filmed crashing into a port in Alaska. Twitter / @SEREF737 The historic mansion collapsed after the crash REUTERS The house was completely destroyed The Celebrity Cruises ship was
on a seven-day voyage from Vancouver to the Hubbard Glacier when the incident occurred. The Celebrity Infinity cruise liner attempted to dock and scraped along the side of the metal

suffered extensive damage. According to Alaska Dispatch News, it was estimated that as much as £2 million of damage was inflicted. RELATED ARTICLES
