McGregor and Holloway locked horns with one another at UFC Fight Night 26 in Boston back in August 2013. McGregor, the reigning UFC lightweight champion, came out of the contest victorious,
defeating the Hawaii native via unanimous decision. Twenty-five-year-old Holloway has been on an absolute tear since that setback, rattling off 12 consecutive victories - seven of which have
come by way of KO or TKO - on his way to claiming and defending the UFC featherweight title, which he prised from Jose Aldo's clutches in emphatic fashion in June. Holloway's
stellar win streak has generated a real interest in a rematch with McGregor, despite the fact no longer competes in the 145lbs division. Talk of a second encounter between the pair came up
yet again after Holloway defeated Aldo in the main event of UFC 218 in the early hours of Sunday morning. Holloway is more than willing to try to avenge his last loss inside the Octagon but
doesn’t foresee McGregor and his team being keen on having a rematch. “I’m a champion in my division, and I’ve got to keep it everything rolling. I’ve got a throne to defend, and I’m not
going on a hiatus. As long as I get contenders, I’m going to fight, but if UFC called me for that, I’ll gladly fight him,” Holloway said in the UFC 218 post-fight press conference. CONOR

McGregor “If the Conor fight don’t happen, it’s not on my side, I’ll tell you guys like right now. It’s on their team. Their team talk about me all the time. That I’m the best guy in the
world, this and that — but right now, really think about this. Conor is talking about Paulie Malignaggi... in MMA. Let that sink in. “Paulie Malignaggi in MMA. I don’t know what to say after
that.” A rematch with McGregor would almost certainly bring about the biggest payday of Holloway’s MMA career. GETTY Conor McGregor defeated Max Holloway via unanimous decision in August
2013 ‘Blessed’ is more than aware of that fact but has his sights set on cementing his legacy in the featherweight division before taking part in super fights. “Right now, I’m focused on
champ life. I want to be a long-reigning featherweight champion. I want to be known in the history books — my name everywhere — as a champion,” he added. GETTY Max Holloway celebrates his
UFC 218 victory over Jose Aldo “Later on in my career, when I start getting good (on those goals), then I can start doing exhibitions matches for money and stuff. Right now, I think the
world needs to know what a champion looks like. “I defend, I don’t really cry about anything. If you think you’re the best, fight Blessed.” GETTY Max Holloway puts a beating on Jose Aldo A
little less than 24 hours after Holloway's career-defining victory, McGregor threw a verbal jab at his verbal opponent by posting a picture of him sporting two black eyes after their
fight to his Twitter and Instagram profiles. The accompanying caption said: "I miss those sunglasses."
