Diaz dropped a razor-close decision to ‘The Notorious’, though many - including the man himself - believing he did more than enough to get the win. Unsurprisingly, Diaz demanded an immediate
trilogy fight to settle the score with McGregor - whom he bested at UFC 196 - once and for all. His calls for a rubber match, which at the time was the biggest fight the UFC could’ve made,
fell on deaf ears and he was forced to sit on the sidelines and watch McGregor fight Eddie Alvarez and go on to box Floyd Mayweather. Diaz was initially steadfast in his refusal to fight
anyone other than McGregor, and understandably so. During his lengthy hiatus, UFC president Dana White accused Diaz of turning down several fight offers, a notion which greatly irked the
Ultimate Fighter season five winner before he accepted an offer to face Dustin Poirier last November. His clash with Poirier didn’t end up materialising, though, as ‘The Diamond’ was forced
out of the contest with a hip injury. According to White, the UFC brass tried to find Diaz a new opponent for UFC 230 but saw their attempts go up in smoke. Diaz may be adamant he didn’t
turn down multiple fight offers, but that hasn’t stopped the public from believing that narrative. That perception still irks Diaz, who has insisted part of the reason he stayed on the
sidelines was that there weren’t any opponents available who excited him. “It was just the best fight,” Diaz said of his showdown with Pettis during an appearance on Ariel Helwani’s MMA
Show. “Coming off a good win, and he's one of the top guys and better guys in the division. He's one of the most entertaining fighters in the UFC. It's a guy I would actually
enjoy watching over the rest of these fighters. “It's getting boring, the fight game. If I'm going to take part in any fights, I would like it to be a fight that is interesting.
If I'm a fight fan, I want an interesting fight. I don't want a boring fight.” UFC 241 FIGHT CARD Daniel Cormier vs Stipe Miocic - heavyweight title fight Anthony Pettis vs Nate
