Chelsea's pierre-emerick aubameyang may have new way out of blues

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang may have a fresh avenue to terminate his ill-fated Chelsea stint now that Thomas Tuchel has been appointed head coach of Bayern Munich. The striker joined the Blues

last summer to reunite with Tuchel, but found himself ostracised when the German was sacked just a week later.  Tuchel expressed excitement at the prospect of working with Aubameyang again.

But he never got to use his former Borussia Dortmund star as Aubameyang arrived at Stamford Bridge with an injury.  By the time Aubameyang returned to full fitness, Tuchel had been replaced

by Graham Potter after losing the confidence of the club’s ambitious new owners. The Gabon international has played just 12 Premier League games since - and only four of those have come

since the turn of the year.  It leaves Aubameyang’s career at a crossroads. Having already played for Barcelona this season, he could not join another club in January unless he moved to MLS,

with FIFA rules insisting that players do not play for more than two clubs in a single campaign.  No move materialised and Aubameyang has since been forced to rot on Chelsea’s bench, even

when Potter’s side have struggled for goals. But a new opening has formed in the shape of reigning Bundesliga champions Bayern.  The Bavarians replaced Julian Nagelsmann with Tuchel last

week and given how excited Aubameyang was to reunite with his former boss at Chelsea, the door could be open for a move to Germany. “It will be an honour and a joy again [to play with

Tuchel],” Aubameyang said last September, a week before Chelsea dismissed the 49-year-old. “We had some good times in Dortmund together so I am really happy to play for him again. We will

achieve some big things, I am sure of this and I will try to help the team." Tuchel, similarly, spoke glowingly of Aubameyang and defended the striker from accusations of showing a poor

attitude. “I can only say the best things about Auba as a player and as a person. I enjoyed a lot working with him while I was at Dortmund,” Tuchel beamed.  “Some players stay your players

because you were very, very close, and Auba is one of those players. There was always straightaway this close bond. They always stay your players in a way. “He's fun-loving and a happy

person. That makes things easier for me. Aubameyang is an extrovert but very sensitive. It would be the worst thing to curb his character. “It’s an honour to be his coach. He’s bursting with

confidence and ability. He gives a lot to the team and gets a lot back. I am hugely impressed with the way he gives everything to be the complete and perfect forward. “His aim is to score

goals and he totally defines himself as a goalscorer but he’s also incredibly committed to the team and so happy when he enables others to score.” Given the huge mutual respect, Aubameyang

could decide to join Tuchel’s Bayern in the summer. It would finally get him away from a disastrous spell at Chelsea.
