That is the opinion of former Everton forward Andy Gray, who says the England international has let people down "too many times". Sturridge looks set for a back-up role at
Liverpool this season with the all-star attack of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane firmly first-choice. But he offered a taste of what he can still do on Sunday by coming on as
a substitute and wrapping up Liverpool’s 4-0 win over West Ham. Sturridge tucked the ball in with his first touch when James Milner’s corner was flicked across the box by a West Ham head.
And fans are optimistic the 28-year-old has put an end to the injury problems which have blighted him since 2014. Gray, who spent two years at Liverpool’s rivals Everton, has revealed his
doubts about Daniel Sturridge though. "No-one doubts the ability the young lad's got," Gray told _beIN SPORTS_. "I have doubted his desire to put himself out there on the
football pitch time and time again. "It's a great start for him but I'm not going to go overboard about Daniel Sturridge because too many times he's let too many people
down. "Let's wait and see. "For Liverpool's sake I hope he is the new Sturridge. "I hope that he has learned, and I hope that he does want to play, the latter part
of his career, time and time again." Liverpool blew West Ham away under the watchful eye of former Reds midfielder and manager Graeme Souness. The Scotsman hailed Liverpool’s frontline
in the wake of their humbling of Manuel Pellegrini’s men. "They were fabulous," said Souness. "It's what I expected. "They just blew West Ham away, too much quality,
too much energy, the mischief they cause in the final third. "They were just far too good for West Ham. "West Ham got caught in a revolving door and couldn't get out of
it."
